Sergey Shishkarev and Vitaly Khotsenko discussed the prospects of logistics development in the Omsk Region
Sergey Shishkarev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Delo Group and Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Handball Federation of Russia (HFR), held a business meeting with Vitaly Khotsenko, Governor of the Omsk Region, at the Transportation of Russia International Forum and Exhibition. They addressed the prospects of logistics development in the region, and also sports projects.
The emphasis was placed on the initiative to expand freight transportation along the Irtysh River. Currently the infrastructure does not allow to implement such projects to the full extent, however, the parties have agreed to thoroughly assess the potential and prospects of this direction, including the possibility of international logistics and involvement of specialized fleet.
"We recognize the region's potential in terms of transportation and intend to comprehensively evaluate possible projects that would complement our existing railway services. One of the opportunities we consider is the development of river navigation on the Irtysh River,” said Sergey Shishkarev.
In addition, the Chairman of the HFR Supreme Council and the Governor of the Omsk Region reviewed measures to support handball in the region. Sergey Shishkarev highlighted the significance of the contribution of the Skif handball club to the promotion of this sport.
Skif Omsk handball club was founded in 1995. Prior to that it had been playing under the name of the region - Omsk region handball team. In the season 2016/2017, Skif became the silver medalist of the Russian Championship in the Higher League. At the end of the 2020/2021 season, the team has won bronze medals of the Higher League. The highest achievement of the club is the Higher League win at the end of the 2021/2022 season.
In 2023, Delo Group and the Omsk Region have signed a cooperation agreement to develop the region's transportation and logistics potential. Delo Group's rail operator terminal is located in the region, which provides cargo handling for internal Russian and international trade transportation; the Group's regular container services connect Omsk with key logistics hubs in Russia and abroad.
