Sergey Shishkarev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Delo Group, paid a four-day working visit to Vietnam as part of a delegation led by Nikolay Patrushev, Assistant to the President of Russia and Chairman of the Maritime Board. During the trip, the Group’s founder met with Vietnamese President Luong Cuong and Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh, and also held a series of bilateral talks on enhancing inland and maritime transport links between the two countries.The Delo Group delegation, headed by Sergey Shishkarev, discussed logistics projects with the management of railway operator RATRACO and maritime corporation VIMC, both key players in Vietnam’s inland and maritime logistics. The parties agreed to cooperate on expanding their mutual cargo base and customer networks, as well as organizing joint transport services. In particular, they will explore the potential for direct maritime services with vessel handling at Delo Group and VIMC’s stevedoring assets, which would reduce reliance on transit routes through China, India, and the Persian Gulf. Ensuring stable mutual settlements was also identified as a priority issue.
At his meeting with the Vietnamese Minister of Construction, Shishkarev expressed readiness to provide favorable conditions at Delo Group’s stevedoring assets for handling Vietnamese imports, followed by rail delivery across Russia. He also proposed examining the possibility of adding feeder vessels carrying Vietnamese goods to routes between Russia — particularly the port of Novorossiysk — and Turkey.
“The annual container traffic between Russia and Vietnam amounts to just 74,000 TEU*, which does not reflect its true potential. Existing transit routes through China and other countries make logistics longer and more complicated. Delo Group is prepared to provide capacity at its terminals in key Russian ports to support direct services with Vietnamese ports. This would shorten logistics chains, give cargo owners greater predictability, and open new opportunities for trade,” said Sergey Shishkarev.
At the conclusion of his visit, Shishkarev toured the Cai Mep – Thi Vai port in Ho Chi Minh City, which handles 7 million TEU annually — nearly a quarter of Vietnam’s total container throughput — as well as the Ba Son shipyard.
