Sergey Shishkarev Discusses Maritime Transport Development and Joint Projects in India

Sergey Shishkarev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Delo Group, made a working visit to India as part of a delegation led by Nikolay Patrushev, Aide to the President of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Maritime Board. The visit included a series of business meetings focused on enhancing maritime transport links between the two countries to support growing bilateral trade. The program also featured tours of major maritime infrastructure facilities, including the Goa Shipyard and the Port of Mormugao.

In New Delhi, Sergey Shishkarev took part in interdepartmental consultations on civil maritime issues with India’s Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. A key topic of discussion was the creation of an end-to-end transport corridor between Russia and India along the shortest viable route. Shishkarev emphasized that while the Group is ready to handle Indian cargo at terminals in both Vladivostok and Nakhodka, the Port of Novorossiysk remains the most efficient option, being nearly half the distance from India. He also outlined Delo Group’s contribution to Russian-Indian cooperation and confirmed the company’s readiness to jointly develop new routes and services, including the expansion of hinterland infrastructure and establishment of container depots.

As part of the business agenda, meetings were held with the leadership of India Ports Global Limited, a subsidiary of the Indian Ministry of Shipping, as well as representatives of Sberbank’s Indian division. Discussions centered on strengthening cooperation in port operations and finance, ensuring stable mutual settlements, and developing joint projects aimed at increasing the efficiency of container logistics between the two countries.

“Our goal is to build a mutually beneficial logistics system that enables the free and predictable movement of goods at minimal cost to businesses. We are open to dialogue with our Indian partners,” said Sergey Shishkarev.

A separate part of the program included visits to the Goa Shipyard and the Port of Mormugao, one of India’s largest ports. Mormugao, a major hub for ore and metal shipments, plans to resume container handling after a seven-year pause, expanding its ability to support import and export flows. During meetings with port management, Shishkarev discussed the potential integration of Delo Group’s services into the feeder network of the Shipping Corporation of India.

Delo Group remains one of the key Russian logistics operators working in the Indian market and provides multimodal transportation services in both directions.
