Sergei Shishkarev encouraged the development of Eastern polygon alternatives to meet national objectives

Sergey Shishkarev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Delo Group, has called for more proactive development of corridors that would unburden the overloaded Eastern polygon and enable the achievement of national targets in foreign trade. He delivered this assessment at a seminar on the preparation of an extended meeting of the Russian Federation State Council Presidium on export development issues.

During the discussion on the new “International Cooperation and Export” national project, Sergey Shishkarev noted that the imbalance of cargo flows is a major challenge for all market participants. According to him, the Eastern polygon will lag behind the capacity of Far East ports for a considerable period of time, even under the most optimistic scenarios of its expansion.

“I believe that national export targets can be met only by “rolling out” the alternative routes. I see major prospects for access to the Indian Ocean through the North-South corridor and the development of the Northern Sea Route (NSR). And, certainly, we should build our transport and logistics centers abroad, so that we could have our own warehouses, terminals, and fleet,” he suggested.

New export routes and solutions were discussed in the “Logistics to Target Markets” working group under the leadership of Alexey Tsydenov, Chairman of the State Council's Transport Commission and Head of the Republic of Buryatia. It was attended by representatives of the Russian Government, regional leaders, business and industry-specific organizations.
